Demi Lovato, the American music sensation, has often been in the news regarding rumors about her sexuality.
In honor of National Coming Out Day on October 11, Demi Lovato revealed to Tan France about the exact moment she realized that she was a queer.
She discovered more about her sexuality while watching the 1999 movie Cruel Intentions.
Talking about the exact moment Lovato knew that she was a queer, she said that it was the scene in Cruel Intentions where they made out on the park lawn.
"It was definitely when I was young and should not have been watching Cruel Intentions but I did and it was that scene where they made out on the park lawn," Demi said.
She’s surprised that some of her fans didn't figure out that some of the songs were in fact for certain people, as In 2015, her song "Cool for the Summer" became an LGBTQ anthem.
The 28-year-old "Sorry Not Sorry" singer added ‘Oh, wait a minute. I really like that.’ I was like, ‘I want to try it!’“And then, when I was like, 17, I did get down with that, and that’s when I knew,” The singer explained, “I pretty much told all of my friends and my older sister when I was 17.
They all knew before I brought it to my parents and then the public.
Those were my three phases: friends, parents, public.” After mentioned that she’d like to start a family of her own, whether that be with a man or a woman, Demi said “I’m still figuring it out.”
Demi is currently single after breaking off her engagement from Max Ehrich last month.
Sometimes movies help us realize things about ourselves and what’s possible and Demi Lovato is living her truth loud and proud!
