By Ms. Wood
  • 4 hour(s) ago

Born in Savona, Italy, in 1980, Mattia Trotta is a talented Italian sculptor, who creates amazing sculptures from wire meshes.

He leverages his technical expertise and knowledge of materials, to shape iron wires into works of art. His creations consist of steel wires wrapped around an iron frame, one by one, wires are tangled and compacted to fill-in the casing.

After finishing it, the artwork must go through the final process with acid to prevent corrosion and extract the cable’s natural feel and color. Everything gets done by hand, not using any welding or brazing.

Some of his works already adorn Italian parks and squares, one of these “Fratelli” commissioned by the Toscany region is installed in the park of Villa Fabbricotti in Florence.
